Our world is complex and ever-changing. Our students live in a world much different than the one we grew up in. It is our responsibility as educators to prepare our students for life outside of their zip codes by helping them recognize the importance of global citizenship. We are citizens not only of our city, country, state, and country, but also the world. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “All life is interrelated. We are all caught up in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied to a single garment of destiny.
